Does anyone remember my post from last year?
Well for me, magazines do the same….
They could tell a tale about the stages of my life, a coming of age tale…..
I started with ‘Twinkle’
progressed to ‘Jackie’ then onto ‘Smash Hits’ and ‘Fab 208’
In my late teens to early twenties it was ‘The Face’ I was at Art college….. I was ‘arty’?
In my twenties it was ‘Vogue’ I still have about 10 years worth in the attic!
In my thirties I started to read and collect ‘Elle decoration’….I had just bought my own flat.
Into my forties I still read Elle Decoration, with various other thrown in, mainly design and garden magazines.
Now I am 50….and during the last couple of years it has been..Mollie Makes, The Simple Things and Simply crochet.
My new fave is ‘Reloved’ now out monthly…
So back to the subject of this post!
Where does a magazine lover/collector/hoarder store all these personal treasures?
In piles by the sofa?
No of course not! (well maybe)
Some of my new mags I keep in these folders, they are in my sewing room and very handy, but they get buried next to piles of other stuff….they become inaccessible….
Therefore my solution to magazine storage problems is a simple one.
Do you remember the T.O.H?
For anyone who hasn’t heard of him…..I have a rather ‘talented other half” who builds me things.
As seen here…
Not just anything, oh no…Bespoke things….and in my sewing room!
IE. magazine storage cubby holes, especially measured and made fit all my old ‘Elle Decorations’
The old Elle Decorations that I have not looked at for at least three years and are taking up valuable space in my sewing room!
Those little cubby holes hold at least 16 elle deco’s each!!
January a time for….outing the old and bringing in the new.
I have re stored my elle decos in the spare room, for guests to peruse at their leisure, very useful I think if they cannot sleep!
….and moved my Mollie makes and my Simply Crochet mags into the space.
and they all lived…
next I will be sorting all my trims and bits and pieces….do you want to see my storage ideas for that too?
……might as well I am on a roll!
PS. I climbed into the attic to find my twinkle annual to show you…did you seen that Nurse Nancy? Mr Jingle always gave me the creeps you hardly ever saw him!
