Sewing a Mathilde blouse by tilly and the buttons.
♥♥♥♥♥
I am a big Tilly and the Buttons fan.
I have been looking for a blouse to sew.
I searched all the normal pattern companies, to no avail.

I had some gorgeous Liberty tana lawn, patiently waiting to be sewn into a blouse.
I wanted simple, unfussy, elegant.
I wanted 3/4 puffed sleeves and overall versatility.
I wanted a row of pearly buttons down the back….I had a card of beautiful vintage ones needing a forever home….
I had plans.
I remembered Tilly and that spotty Navy polka dot blouse from gbsb.
It was The Mathilde blouse
Tilly designed it herself.
You can download it from her site.
I have not used, or even tried to download a pattern before… all new to me.
I easily downloaded the pattern…for a reasonable cost of 7 pounds.
I set to work….
I printed out the sheets, using my printer and basic white paper.
The pattern shapes are printed to be pieced together…
Each piece is cleverly numbered and has little flags that match to each other.
It was great fun and simple to do
..I had help….
(he has a chew in his mouth….)
I stuck the pieces together using sellotape and washi tape….my washi tape looked just like real pins don’t you think?
Next up, I measured myself, to check the size I wanted to cut out.
Then I started cutting.
This was very easy because the paper was not tissue paper and did not tear as soon as you looked at it!
It you are a beginner, or need more help with sewing, Tilly provides help in pictures, on her website.
I followed the ‘print out’ instructions.
They had little tick boxes to tick, as you worked through the various stages…I adore ticking boxes!!!
Whilst I was involved in my task….
It was Sherrie…..however….
The sewing flowed…I made no mistakes and felt absorbed by the process,
…. here are the tucks under construction, very satisfying to construct.
then came….
sleeves and bodice…
Pearly buttons all down the back…
french seams throughout…proper job!
…and finally a touch of top stitching….
At last…
I was beginning to see a garment….
a very pretty one….
taking shape….
The final blouse!!
I love it to bits…easy to make…comfy to wear….adorable.
Thinking about the next one now….Highly recommended!
