Simplicity 1609 is a wonderful simple sew and a very useful dress too!
I have been sewing again.
First the background info…
Simplicity 1609
I was inspired by two people who had already made this dress
The first was CowRoad here .
Marjan gave me some advice that I am so glad I heeded….
….she said the dress was cut small and she was right…. I cut it two sizes larger than I needed!
The second was here Gertis’s Blog she made five and each one very different.
The pattern is easy to make up and very suitable for a beginner….
…. just remember to cut larger than your own size!
Here is mine…..
Please not that this dress has already been worn and washed….
several times…its a keeper!
The fabric I have had for eons
I kept it very simple and sewed some lace on the hem…I think it looks like my slip is showing…
The lace is handmade and old
I used a little machine embroidery to stitch it on…
the zip was recycled
Only the pattern to pay for
A very cheap dress.
and of course lets see the shoes I wear with it….
Another
Do you remember this?
Well eventually I made a dress to match…
Its from another vintage pattern not the same one as the coat…but I can’t find it!!
It has a lovely shaped seam under the bust….
and here it is where it belongs under the coat….
…I am actually sewing clothes for myself. Three so far and counting, progressing nicely with my plan of having a homemade wardrobe and wearing it. A bit like having your cake and eating it!
Next
This is my next one, I do like a little sleeve cover
