As requested by some of my fellow bloggers
A very simple tutorial explaining how I crocheted covers for my wooden hangers…originally posted about
This is a basic tutorial for beginners
The stitch used throughout is a basic double crochet,
A size 4 hook and suitable yarn,
One wooden hanger,
……if you are not going to crochet the decoration then add some decorative trims, ribbons or lace
Ok So lets start….
with your chain ….formula as above, or I used approx a 12ch length,
Then crochet a very simple strip of double crochet
(or sc if you are american?)
…..the length of your hanger…..I did about 40 rows of dc.
(aren’t my slippers cute?)
Some Tips for beginners to remember….
It is easy to let your strip go a bit ‘wonky‘
ie. turn and do one chain one then crochet into second chain space…..like this
Also dont forget to crochet into the last stitch at the end of the row as it is not an obvious stitch to see
but will keep your edges straight…..
So when you get here…..
by either removing the hanger hook, or put your strip over it and slip stitch base,
Your hanger should now look like this?
This is the best bit…the decoration
now you can use your ribbons and buttons…?
or crochet a flower and foliage…
I made blossom for this one…I can show you how another time?
and I added some beads to their centres
I am gaining quite a collection….
Do let me know if you have any questions…..
