A Belinda Lyon textile cat restoration.
I recently and hesitantly, opened a ‘page’ on face book…
So pleased I did….
You see via FB I received a ‘tip off‘ from my new bloggy friend Rachel in her Rainbow vintage home.
A very special cat was for sale….
just like the one I had envied
I bought it…it arrived this week..happy, happy HAPPY.
By the way…
Have you ‘liked’ me on facebook yet? …..if not press that little square on the right see it? it says “like me on face book”
Back to the cat…..
It was designed by Belinda Lyon in the 70’s,
and issued in 1973 as a t-towel for oxfam…. rather like a cloth kits fabric pack
wish mine was still this bright?
Belinda also designed lots of other wonderful animals in delicious patterns and colours….
when my cat was unpacked I noticed it was a little tired…
it was grubby and stale….ahhhh
It needed unpicking….
It needed a gentle wash….
it needed resewing…..
It needed fresh stuffing….
It needed a lot of TLC….to restore it to its former retro self albeit a faded one.
I am going to call her Belinda…
Isn’t she lovely…Rachels says hers makes her smile when ever she sees it,
I have to agree…
Even the pooch approves….but is a little envious of all the attention Belinda receives
I hope you have had a wonderful bank holiday….we have been putting up fence panels and visiting village boot fairs…more tomorrow?
(and restoring retro cats of course)
