Today I found this magazine in a charity shop.
It is dated November 1940.
It is in almost perfect condition.
Beautiful , the cover could be from an old Vogue.
I also have the latest modern equivalent.
The ”thoroughly modern Mollie”
They are 73 years apart.
There are wartime adverts in one.
and embroidery and crafts in them both…
Crafting is eternal…..
Do you know?
When I opened it, I found it still had the ‘free gift’ snuggling safely between its pages?
A sheet of embroidery transfers.
I did not know whether to weep or smile…..
Oh the irony….
The irony of how many children and their parents were killed in that war and this sweet ‘free gift’ survived!
73 years old, pristine and perfect.
These are the embroidery projects that can be worked from the transfers….
……and look there is a collar,
collars are ‘trending’ right now
….and a felt corsage….
and the dolls clothes are of course……
Yes there is always crochet, what a comforting thought,
So bestest to you
from a melancholy me.
(as in pensive reflection or contemplation.)
